I am helping a veteran and have been putting a list together with the additional benefits for the "P&T" along with addressing each of these benefits for myself and family. Please let me know if you can think of any other benefits that are specifically included with the "P&T" benefits.
    x
(Some of these benefits may apply to vets that are not P&T but I am trying to creat this list to also help vets newly 100% P&T)

    Here is a list(not all inclusive)of additional benefits for 100% P&T:

    1. DEA (Dependent Educational Assistance), Chapter 35 college assistance for spouse and dependents!!! This can be up to $1018 per month for full time student

    2. CHAMPVA---Health Care benefits for your spouse and dependents
    http://www.va.gov/PURCHASEDCARE/program ... bility.asp

    3. Student loan discharge for you (your name on actual loan)

    4. SSDI program to expedite 100% P&T veterans(also Wounded Warriors) program--

    5. Your STATE benefits--these vary greatly from state to state. Florida for example provides such things as basic property tax exemption up to 100%, Homestead exemption, Educational benefits (Bright Futures) on top of the Chapter 35 benefits, Fishing License reductions, State Park admissions, etc...(some of these are exlusive to for 100% P&T, while others vary depending on the veteran and disability(ies) percentages (again vary state to state).

    6. Commissary and Exchange Privileges
    7. Specially Adapted Housing
    8. Special Home Adaption Grant

    12. Get your permanent military ID card to access Commissary and Exchange Privileges at base near you. The military ID card/and or Common Access Card (CAC) you get may vary depending if you are retired/TDRL/PDRL/Reserve/Guard ..etc...typically if you are just 100% P&T you will get the ID card DD form 2765:

Does the life insurance eligibility really trigger with 100%?

I followed the link and tried to apply and got this:

In order to be eligible for this insurance, the disability you are rated for must be a new disability, not an increase in a disability you already have.

Being increased to 100% or being granted individual employability does not automatically entitle you to a new eligibility period.

              Thanks MACMACred1 and qwerty68,

I edited the initial post to better reflect the VET to look at the link to see if he/she qualifies based on the circ*mstances/qualifications.

In my case I had a new service-connected disability added to my other disabilities along with IU taking me to 100% with P&T. So hopefully if this helps other vets that come across the thread they will know to look at the link to see if they qualify.

              jerryleitz,

Yes, I am hoping others chime in with more info. I just remember when I got my disability award and how I researched different locations to find the details...this would be a good list to start with for those newly awarded or those that come across it and realize they had not looked into one or more of the benefits available to them.

              Thanks.

At the state level you can also get a disabled veteran license plate for your vehicle (at no cost to the veteran). I'm sure this varies from state to state.

Also, bear in mind,,,if you are rated 100% you maybe elidgeable for a DAV Handicap lic/registration, but you need your prim care doc/nurse to fill out the form from DMV. This opens up all handicap parking/benes.

I picked up a form at DMV and took to my prim care nurse who filled it out.

I had my DAV Handicap tag in an hour.

I received both a placard and a regular license plate.

Just thought of something else. Now I don't know if all states or the feds will give you this, but in Delaware, I got an Access America Pass from the state that gives me access, not only to all state parks in Delaware, but also to all Federal Parks in the Unites States.
Man, did it come in handy when I went to Maine this summer and was in/out of Acadia State Park several times, and at $25 per clip, it saved me big bucks.
This pass is also good in places like Yellowstone, etc.
You show the pass and everyone in the car is in free.

If you have Texas DV plates, most of the roll roads are free. Not SH130 from Seguin and not the Katy toll way.

Also AT&T center gives free parking to DV plates if DV is in the car.

In Texas, DV license plates that state on the bottom of the plate "Disabled American Veteran" permits to park in all disabled parking spots. The license plate privilege is reciprocal to all other 49 states. The Texas license plate may or may not have the wheel chair symbol, does not matter as the DV on the plate (DxV is not a veteran plate and will not have the appropriate Disabled American Veteran embossed on the plate) is all that is required to park in those reserved spots. The TDOT will also issue you the traditional blue card that is suspended from the rear view mirror to use in any auto in which you are riding or driving (I have both the plates and the card). Also the license plates cost $3.50 per year (must add a dollar to that if you use mail in registration) for the veteran's first car, second car must pay regular fees. Similar disabled veteran plates are issued by many other states, some are very colorful like those disabled veteran plates by Oklahoma.

Just a note on parking in NJ. If you have DAV plates, you can park in any space free of charge(inc. meters). In my particular case(I also have Hncp tag as well). While vacationing at the beach this summer, it really came in handy.

                                              Thanks.

I am 100% P&T, under unemployability with future exams required. Should I try to get 100% P&T over all without unemployability or not worry about it?

Did you get an answer from what you've read? If you are 100% P&T there are no future exams. TDIU is a different story.

In CA 100% disabled receive free state DV tags for one vehicle. IU does not quality unless their physician states they require assistive devices or are amputees. In addition, a State Parks pass is available that allows free entrance and parking at all state parks that are NOT controlled by vendors (Those outside companies hired by the State to manage the parks do not accept the pass). Tax exemptions for 100% or IU paid at 100% vets run from about 130K (No income limits) to 155K for low income. Those numbers change annually to keep up with inflation. Vision and dental at VA are outstanding bennies.

Thank you for speedy reply. What's confusing is that P&T on its own doesn't qualify on its own for DV plates based on the certification form checkbox, yet info on interwebs often reads as P&T is sufficient. It has to be "...rated as 100% disabled due to a diagnosed disease or disorder which substantially impairs or interferes with my mobility" (emphasis added, Reg 256A). So it seems no, but reading posts online in various places make me think some have qualified with a P&T rating w/out mobility impairment.

To get handi-cap however, you need a form from your Dr. In my case, because of Agent Orange related issues/PTSD, etc., etc. my VA doc filled out the HC form. I took it all to the Delaware DMV and got a license with DAV and HP symbol on it. In some states, a DAV tag W/HP usually has more clout.
