While the land was donated in 1877, JPS was not built in its current location until 1938 when Tarrant County out-grew the previous City-County Hospital.

Improving the patient and family experience.

As a Level I Trauma Center in Tarrant County, JPS receives trauma patients not only from local EMS agencies, but also from multiple air EMS agencies and other agencies outside of our county.

As a Level I Trauma Center, Texas Health Fort Worth provides 24-hour, in-house medical staff coverage by trauma and general surgeons, as well specialists in all other areas of surgical expertise, including orthopedic, neurosurgery, radiology, plastic, oral maxillofacial, vascular and thoracic.

Marubeni Corporation of Japan and East-West Power (EWP) of South Korea, jointly own majority shares (80%) in JPS, while the Government of Jamaica and a small group of minority shareholders own the remaining shares.

Determination of eligibility for the Financial Assistance Program is made based on review of a completed application, minimum requirements for assistance: Tarrant County Resident, US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident, meet income guidelines and not be eligible for any State or Federal funded program.
