Make a Natural Foot Cream Recipe for Fabulous Feet Year Round

Without fail, winter always takes a toll on my feet unless I give them extra attention daily. To help keep my feet looking and feeling healthy, I have to put in extra time and effort for foot care. Otherwise, when spring rolls around, it’s impossible to get them in shape for sandal season. Even with a foot peeling mask, I’m quite frankly ashamed to say, my feet still need an extra season to be presentable to the world at large. Not one to be stuck in hot tennis shoes once summer hits, this natural foot care remedy does wonders at keeping my feet in shape. So there’s no extra prep needed when it’s time to show off my toes!

This homemade lavender & peppermint foot cream recipe with essential oils is my own natural foot care remedy. It’s gentle enough for even sensitive skin and it’s great at tackling the chore of restoring dry, cracked feet to their former glory. Not only does this lavender & peppermint foot cream recipe work well, it’s also incredibly easy to make!

I bought all of the ingredients for my lavender & peppermint foot cream recipe at Mountain Rose Herbs. Therefore, I highly recommend them as a source for your own ingredients when you’re ready to make my foot cream recipe.

Ingredients:

1/8 Cup Cocoa Butter
1/2 teaspoon Beeswax
1 1/8 Cup Refined Shea Butter
1/4 Cup Aloe Butter
1/8 Cup Avocado Oil
1/8 Cup Liquid Vegetable Glycerin
1 Tablespoon Vitamin E Oil
1 teaspoon Tea Tree Oil
1 1/2 Tablespoons Lavender or Lavender 40/42 Essential Oil
1 teaspoon Peppermint Essential Oil
1 Tablespoon Mountain Rose Herbs Restorative Skin Oil

Instructions:

I recommend using a double boiler when making my homemade foot cream recipe. This will prevent overheating the butters, which can make them grainy. It will also ensure your foot cream retains the natural skin care benefits of the ingredients used in the recipe.

Melt the butters and beeswax in a double boiler on the stove. (Alternately you can also melt them at 50% power in the microwave.)

Once melted, mix well. Then measure out and stir in the remaining ingredients.

Next, whip the foot cream using an immersion or hand blender.

Them pour your homemade foot cream evenly into four 4oz. plastic or glass jars.

Allow the foot cream to cool and harden completely. This can sometimes take up to two days, even in the refrigerator.

If you don’t want to wait, or you’d like a thicker cream, simply double the amount of cocoa butter and/or beeswax.

To add a cooling sensation to this homemade foot cream recipe, you also add a few menthol crystals to the mixture. Keep in mind the amount of menthol crystals used shouldn’t exceed more than 5% of the recipe in order to avoid skin irritation. Simply mix them in with the other ingredients in the recipe until they dissolve completely.

To use, simply massage onto feet as desired, once or twice a day. For best results, soak your feet in a soothing foot soak then exfoliate with a pumice stone before applying.

If all of your oils are fresh, I’d max the shelf life at the longest shelf life for your oils. 9-12 months.

No, it doesn’t need to be kept in the fridge. There are not preservatives, but they are not needed as there is not water in this recipe. You’d just want to keep it out of extreme heat.

    Hi,
i have made the foot lotion – but it is quite runny and not white –
what does it look like in a few days (ive just made it) and i have put the liquid in glass jars – should i leave room at the top as it gets more when it is more solid i presume???
thank you – i love all the ingredients, but would love to know what the finished product looks like – as i thought it would be like the photo!

It can take 24 hours to two days to solidify to a cream consistency at room temperature. You can speed this up by placing in the fridge for a few hours.

You can make your own aloe butter by combing shea butter with aloe gel.

You can find aloe butter at Wholesale Supplies Plus. Or you can sub any other butter that is semi-solid at room temperature.

Too many ingredients in my opinion. Better Off buying a natural foot cream for the price you’ll pay for most of these Ingredients. Nice ingredients though!

I waited a while to make this as the ingredients were costly and many. When it seemed that I needed the perfect foot cream for a Christmas gift I decided on this. It is absolutely incredible! Thank goodness I had some leftover for me. In the winter here in the northeast I find it necessary to remove dead skin from my feet about once a week. Since I started using this my feet have stayed soft (a month now…). It is definitely so worth the cost of ingredients. I am making a new batch with different essential oils for more general use too. Thanks for posting!

Hi, I made this yesterday and I want to know how long we’re supposed to blend it? Also, I doubled the cocoa butter but not the beeswax and it firms up in the fridge but softens after it’s been out. I keep it in the a/c apt. Overall, I believe it’s going to be well worth the cost of ingredients though 🙂

If it’s summer, it can take an entire day to thicken up completely in the fridge. Give it a day or two then see what it does. However, keep in mind that cocoa butter does have a low melt point so if you’re house is warm it might stay soft.

I love this recipe, ty so much for sharing it. I put it on last night and my feet still feel silky, net not oily. Can I replace the restorative oil with something else? It’s kind of pricey.

Can I use almond oil instead of avacodo oil? And will it make a difference if I leave out the skin restoring oil?

Yes, you can sub carrier oils. You can sub out the skin restoring oil with a carrier oil but you will loose some of the moisturizing and healing properties that come with that particular oil. I would recommend subbing with another healing oil like walnut.

    Hi Rebecca,

Your recipe sounds awesome!!! I have unrefined Shea and Cocoa butter, the recipe calls refined Shea butter. Can I ask what difference this makes? I used the unrefined in a deodorant that I made and in came out great.

    Thank-you so much!!
