A New 'Bayonetta Digital Bundle' Offers A Cheeky Discount On Switch eShop (US) (2024)

A $60 Bayo bundle

  • A New 'Bayonetta Digital Bundle' Offers A Cheeky Discount On Switch eShop (US) (1)
  • by Gavin Lane

Sneaking onto the NA eShop with a subterfuge uncharacteristic of the gun-toting Umbra Witch, the Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 Digital Bundle is a compilation of her first two games and it's available now on the US Switch eShop.

For the princely sum of $59.98, you can download this bundle featuring Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 and save $20 compared to buying the pair separately at full price — the original game goes for $29.99 while the sequel costs $49.99. [Update: As pointed out by several readers, this 'discount' existed previously for anyone who bought the games digitally on eShop — buying one would 'activate' the lower price on the second. This new bundle simply adds them together as a single purchase.]

Of course, if you're a fan of PlatinumGames' elegant and irreverent hack-and-slash series, you'll no-doubt have these gems already, either on Wii U or Switch (or elsewhere for the first non-Nintendo-published entry). If you're a new Switch owner, though, and you're looking to catch up with a couple of the finest action games on the system, this is a decent way to pick them up for a fair price. That way you'll be ready for the upcoming Bayonetta 3 when it lands at an undisclosed time in 2022, won't you?

In our reviews we called the first game "one of the most rewarding and memorable cult hits of the previous generation" and said that the second offers "an addictive free-flowing combat formula that sprinkles in platforming, light exploration and a ridiculous story to create something that you simply need to experience". They're both very good video games.

Let us know below if you'll be double dipping with the Bayonetta Bundle.

This is not a discount, if you get either game the eShop gives you a $20 discount on the other one.

I don't know if this is the case on the NA eshop but on the Eurpean eshop if you buy Bayonetta for 29.99 bucks you can get Bayonetta 2 for 29.99 instead of 49.99 and if you buy Bayonetta 2 for 49.99 you can get Bayonetta for 9.99. So 59.98 total.

Really fun games, some of the few titles I bother with NG+ on.

There's also an animated Bayonetta movie that's worth a watch as well.

off topic but Bayo 3 is one of the few games supposed to release next year that I can see being delayed to 2023

After four years of collecting physical releases for the Switch, a physical copy of Bayonetta 1 remains the crown jewel in my collection. I'm holding out hope Bayo 3 will get a special edition from somewhere in the world.

As others say - this isnt a discount as buying one would always give you a discount on the other previously, you would never spend more than $60 for both.

Nice that theres a bundle now though, i guess thats is slightly easier for people to enjoy

But...the original Bayonetta 2 on Wii U and its Switch port came bundled with Bayonetta 1, all for $60.

Thanks to everyone who pointed out the existing discount for buying both — I've added that as an update to the text above.

@Magician : Absolutely criminal that Nintendo printed so, so few copies, and didn’t even bother to issue a proper limited edition in the West (instead, giving us an overpriced box full of useless tat).

I had to pay a scalper around AU$300 for the Japanese edition, which is a hell of a lot more expensive than the AU$69 I paid for both games on Wii U, but I suspected that I would never be able to pick it up any cheaper.

Meanwhile, there are idiots selling graded copies of Bayonetta 1 on Switch for over AU$13,000 (not even the entire Non-Stop Climax box). Oh, the humanity...

Paid $60 years ago for both on Wii U, I don't see ANY incentive to double dip at $60 (I only play docked) Seems kinda crazy to me thats still the price.

I got both on the Wii U in a nice big box for 20 pounds years ago.

@westman98

Yep, and they threw out Bayonetta 2 for 5 Euros new nearly everywhere.
Many Titles on Switch are just brutally overpriced.
Discounted 100-250% more (!) than on other Systems.

Edit:
by the way, the Game is 1100% more expansive.

2 of my favorite games in this genre. Played 1st on ps3 and always wondered why god of war was so popular. As a game, bayonetta is far better. As a movie, gow is better. Then bayonetta 2 comes out, and is even better. Quite possibly one of the best action games period

Nintendo and discounts... lol...

$40 for both would be a reasonable price, anything higher is ridiculous for a Wii U port and an older xbox 360 port.

I bought B2 on the Wii U for $60 years ago, but it never came with the first game sadly. Tempted to get it on the switch since I've never played.

So...wait? Are you suggesting that the world does not revolve around America and it’s citizens?! Did my former president lie to me; are we not as great as we think we are? Huh...Damn!

Bayonetta 3 is just the same Bayonetta we've been playing as the whole series. Is Bayonetta better on Wii U or Switch? ›

There are drops here and there in docked mode, but overall, Bayonetta on Switch comes very close to hitting its target 60fps, especially impressive in areas where Wii U simply doesn't get close. There's a better, more consistent experience to enjoy here. It's faster than Xbox 360 too, with no tearing.

Does Bayonetta look good on Switch? ›

Bayonetta 3's performance on the Switch is decidedly not great, which is surprising given that while its characters look as gorgeous as ever, the environments and background elements look like they're a full generation behind even what the Switch is capable of.

Why is Bayonetta rated M? ›

The ESRB is also concerned about the "suggestive taunts and poses" of some of the female characters, e.g. "opening their legs, dancing on poles", and the fact that "outfits are occasionally shed during battle, with characters' breasts and buttocks partially exposed".

The Bayonetta series has never given a straight answer as to how tall Bayonetta is. By referencing various common day objects in the Bayonetta games, most estimates on her height hover around 8 feet.

Her name was inspired by a bayonet, meant to imply there was "more to her than meets the eye", while her four guns were named parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme after the old English ballad, "Scarborough Fair", due to Kamiya's love of folk music. Her birth name, Cereza, means "cherry" in Spanish.

Is Bayonetta series worth it? ›

I'll always love the bombastic brand of stylish-action the Bayonetta games are known for, and the series is arguably the best representation of the subgenre out there. But Bayonetta Origins shows that this series can be even more than that, to the point where I'd go as far as calling it my new favorite entry.

Is Bayonetta Origins worth buying? ›

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon may not be the most user-friendly for a 100% playthrough, but it definitely is a tale worth playing on its own merits.

Is Bayonetta still good in Smash Ultimate? ›

Bayonetta is a returning fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Her moveset appears to be the same as in the previous title, but according to many hands-on accounts, her abilities are far weaker in Ultimate than they were in Smash for Wii U.
